In-House Clinic Animal Care Assistant

Purpose of Position:
Responsible for assisting with and providing humane and proper care to the organization’s animals housed both at the in-house clinic and those in foster care receiving medical treatment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
In accordance with organizational policies, duties include but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning and sanitizing stainless steel cat and dog cages.
  • Providing food & fresh water.
  • Assist foster parents with animal drop offs.
  • Administer medical treatment and care of animals as directed by attending veterinarian.
  • Administering animal vaccinations, tests, medications and treatments as directed by attending veterinarian.
  • Report health concerns to attending veterinarian.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the PetPoint database.
  • Ensure proper paperwork goes out with each animal.
  • Maintain necessary records for all animals.
  • Assisting with general questions and requests from the public.
  • Ensure that proper supplies are kept on hand.
  • Participate on committees and special projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Must also be able to communicate basic veterinary concepts to individuals and be able to repeat information relayed by a veterinarian.
  • Must possess decision making skills and the ability to manage multiples tasks.
  • Will be asked to communicate with the public on a daily basis in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to learn characteristics of animal behavior (for example: be able to identify aggressive or fearful behavior).

Animal Care Assistant

Purpose of Position:
To provide humane and proper care to the organization’s animals being house on site and to additionally provide excellent customer service to anyone visiting the program location.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with intake procedures for OK Humane pets.
  • Transport animals from Oklahoma City Animal Welfare to the Intake Facility and In-House Clinic as needed.
  • Follow established disease control protocols.
  • Administer animal vaccinations, test, medications, and treatments as directed.
  • Restock areas with supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain equipment in working condition, report equipment or supply needs to supervisor.
  • Maintain work and general areas in an organized manner.

The Clinic Office Assistant is our foster’s and customer’s first contact when calling or visiting and as such carries a significant role within our Clinic to ensure excellent customer service.  The position will maintain the professional environment by answering phones, scheduling appointments, data entry and other tasks as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities:
In accordance with organizational policies, duties include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for handling phone calls and emails or transferring to the appropriate staff member.
  • Prepare responses to correspondence containing routine inquiries.
  • Interact with clients, vendors, and visitors.
  • Scheduling client appointments.
  • Checking clients in and out.
  • Preparing daily paperwork for appointments.
  • Making confirmation and follow up calls.
  • Scheduling internal transports and surgeries.
  • Scheduling appointments with partner veterinarians.

PET ADOPTION SPECIALIST

To facilitate appropriate and responsible adoptions for dogs and cats in the OK Humane Adoption Program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In accordance with organizational policies, duties include but are not limited to:
  • Responsible for placing dogs and cats in appropriate and permanent homes.
  • Works closely with Foster/Volunteer Coordinator to schedule animals drop offs and pickups.
  • Works closely with members of the OK Humane to determine volunteer needs on a regular basis or for one-time projects/events.
  • Clean and sanitize live cat and dog living areas.
  • Clean and sanitize stainless steel cat cages.
  • Daily feeding and fresh water.
  • Assist foster parents with animal drop offs and pickups.
  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of work and public areas.

  • Assist with transporting or arranging transport of pets between various OK Humane locations as needed.
